PCM Cold Pack
What Is a PCM Cold Pack?
- PCM Cold Pack is a temperature-stabilizing solution specifically developed for pharmaceutical distribution, food cold chain logistics, and cross-border refrigerated shipping. Unlike conventional ice packs that freeze at 0°C and cause uncontrolled temperature drops, PCM Cold Packs are formulated with defined phase change temperatures to maintain safe and compliant cold storage ranges.
- Designed for 2–8°C transport systems, 0°C chilled packaging, and other temperature-sensitive applications, they provide predictable thermal performance during transit, last-mile delivery, and temporary refrigerated storage.
Designed for Cold Chain Compliance
In pharmaceutical and food logistics, temperature excursions can lead to product degradation, regulatory non-compliance, and financial loss. PCM Cold Packs help maintain validated temperature ranges by buffering external heat exposure during transportation.
By selecting the appropriate phase change temperature, they can:
- Maintain 2–8°C for vaccine and biologics transport
- Support 0–5°C fresh food and dairy distribution
- Provide subzero temperature maintenance when required
- Reduce risk of freezing damage compared to water-based ice
How PCM Cold Packs Work
Each PCM Cold Pack contains a phase change material engineered to absorb latent heat during its melting process. When preconditioned to the required temperature, the PCM remains at a stable transition temperature while absorbing external thermal energy. Instead of rapidly warming like traditional ice packs, PCM Cold Packs maintain a narrow temperature band for extended durations. This controlled heat absorption process is essential for:
- Pharmaceutical cold chain transport
- Clinical trial material shipping
- Perishable food export
- Cross-border temperature-controlled logistics
Key Advantages for Pharmaceutical Transport
- Controlled phase change temperature (2°C, 5°C, 8°C options)
- Reduced risk of overcooling and product freezing
- Extended thermal hold time
- Reusable multi-cycle durability
- Compatibility with validated cold chain packaging systems
Available Temperature Options
- 2°C PCM
- 5°C PCM
- 8°C PCM
- 0°C PCM
- Subzero PCM

Our PCM Cold Pack solutions are designed for compliance-driven environments where temperature stability directly impacts product safety and regulatory approval.
- How To Use?
- PCM Cold Packs should be used along with insulation shipping boxes.
- ①Pre-cooling Preparation: Before use, place the PCM pouches/Gel Packs in a for a certain time to ensure complete freezing;
- ②Placement Method: Evenly lay the frozen pouches on the bottom and surrounding inner walls of the insulated container, ensuring all surfaces of the container are fully covered to form a full-wrap insulation protection;
- ③Cargo Placement: Put the goods in the center of the insulated container, then place the PCM pouches/Gel Packs on top of the goods, and close the insulated container;
- ④Extension of Cooling Duration: If it is necessary to extend the transportation time, additional PCM pouches/Gel Packs of the corresponding quantity can be added on the existing basis, or larger-sized products can be selected;
- ⑤Reuse: After use, wait for the cold storage bag to thaw naturally, wipe off surface stains, and it can be reused after re-freezing.
